NEW CANAAN, Conn. ? The New Canaan Fury 13-and-under baseball team defeated Team Mizuno USA, 5-3, in the 2012 Spring Challenge at Baseball Heaven on Long Island. Anthony Ferraro threw a complete game to earn the victory.
The Mothers Day match-up came after the Fury lost to two teams on Saturday. The winners of those games advanced to the championship round.
New Canaan was solid defensively, led by Michael Svagdis, Chris White, Andrew Knight, Jack Havard and Matt Zaffino. The Fury also featured patience at the plate and timely hitting by Gregory Catalano, Lucian Tamburro, Matt Lynch, Ryan Radecki, John Esposito and Toby Clark.
