NEW CANAAN, Conn. - After going to the state championship game for the sixth straight season, the accolades are pouring in for the New Canaan High football team. The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference named eight Rams to the all-conference first team, the second most of any school in the league.
New Canaan went 9-1 in the regular season to earn its seventh straight state playoff berth. The Rams rode two wild comebacks in the postseason before falling to Daniel Hand in the Class L state title game.
Quarterback Matt Milano, Main Street Connect's football MVP, was named to the East Division all-conference first-team offense. Joining him are wide receivers Patrick Newton and Peter Kraus, tight end Connor Kilbane and offensive lineman Kalin Killinger. Defensive lineman Dylan Leeming, linebacker Kevin McDonough and punter/kicker Collin Shapiro were named to the first-team defense.
Offensive linemen Rami Hamidan, Chris Dijs and Nick Pelli earned second-team offensive honors. Defensive linemen Thomas Rochlin and John Brainard, linebacker Bobby Distler and defensive back Jared Meichner were named to the second-team defense.
