New Canaan's 4 x 800 relay team crushed the meet record to win the event at Saturday's Loucks Games at White Plains High School in New York.
The team of Alexia Spinu, Patrick Daly, Brant Hoffman and Hensen Orser ran 7:58.84, shattering the previous mark of 8:04.49 set in 2010 by Byram Hills. The time is also a school record. The Rams won the race by more than eight seconds ahead of runner-up St. Anthony's of New York. The time earns the Rams the No. 1 time among Connecticut schools in the event for the outdoor season, according to the web service dyestat.com.
In the 800 open race, Daly finished sixth in 1:55.82, and Spin was seventh in 1:55.83. Both times are season bests.
The girls distance medley team finished fourth with Stephanie Benko, Caroline Murray, Katie Difazio and Melanie Escalante. They ran 12:44.41.
