The following are recaps of recent New Canaan Baseball/Softball games
Babe Ruth Softball Majors 12U
Stampede 15, Norwalk Angels 9
The 12U Stampede sponsored by RA Financial bested the Norwalk Angels 15-9 behind a well pitched game by Molly Keshin. The Stampede got off to a good start offensively with solid hits by Charlotte Decker, Guiliana Ponterotto and Rachel Keshin. Sophie Wood drove in a couple of runs with a bases-loaded double up the middle. Defensively, Carly Bryant made a nice play cutting down the runner at second from short center field.
Babe Ruth Softball Minors 10U
Pumas 6, Mudcats 0
Claire Leville went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI to lead the Darien Sport Shop Pumas to a 6-0 win over the NAA Wildcats. Riley Mottlolese drove in two runs and Kendall Holland and Lauren Sturm each had a hit and an RBI to add to the Puma offensive attack. Gillian Kane Dinan gave up one hit and struck out 15 Wildcats over 5 innings to earn the complete game shutout.
Cub 9
Diamondbacks 11, Phillies 6
The Apple Cart Food Co. Diamondbacks defeated the Joe's Pizza Phillies 11-6 on Thursday night under the lights at Mead Park. After a back and forth game, Hans Toft-Nielson hit a double to the fence in deep center field to lead the Dbacks offensive attack. Henry DiCapua was perfect at the plate for the Dbacks, reaching base safely on all of his at bats while Jarom Hobi was effective from the mound, pitching a perfect third inning. For the Phillies, Elliott Ruoff contributed strong defense with a putout from right field. Manning Landeck maintained his strong pitching string by limiting the DBacks to one run with two strikeouts. Michael Canning followed with a scoreless third.
Diamondbacks 11, Angels 3
The Apple Cart Food Co. Diamondbacks defeated the Family Britches Angels 11-3 on Saturday morning. Eric Wills led the offensive attack for the Dbacks with three hits while throwing a shutout second inning in his pitching debut. Peter Jenkins and Griffen Dayton teamed up to make a fine throw out at home plate to pace the defence for the Dbacks. For the Braves, Stephen Golia pitched a 3 up 3 down 3rd inning while Jonathan Hall added to the defensive effort with three unassisted outs.

Carolina Mudcats 15, Frisco Roughriders 12
The New Canaan Advertiser Carolina Mudcats outlasted the Karl Chevrolet Frisco Roughriders in an offensive slugfest at Waveny Lapham field on Saturday Morning, 15-12.
The Mudcats were led by the solid infield play of Jack Almeida and Ryan Higgins. The hot bats of Will Thomas, Christian Wolter and Jamie Wilcox staked the Mudcats to an 11 run 6th inning lead.
The Roughriders staged a wild comeback scoring eight runs in the bottom of the 6th sparked by timely hitting from Alex Bothwell and Julia Bazata. However, the comeback ended 3 runs short with Frisco leaving the bases loaded.

Lansing Lugnuts 4, Bakersfield Blaze 2
On Sponsor's Appreciation Day, Hoyt Livery's Bakersfield Blaze dropped a close one, 2-4, to New Canaan Alarm's Lansing Lugnuts. The day belonged to the hurlers for both teams, in their season's debuts. For the Blaze, Jackson La Susa pitched two scoreless innings, fanning two; and he was backed up by Jack Finnigan and Griffin Deane, who also pitched a scoreless inning. Cory Pickering was solid behind the plate, and Sam Gardiner had a strong day at second base, with two assists and a caught fly ball. Blaze hitting was paced by Charles Brossy and Maddox Underwood.
For the Lugnuts, Austin Platt pitched a perfect inning, and Callum Wood walked just one and struck out 1. Dukes Plum also pitched a perfect inning w 1 strikeout, flashed the leather with 5 assists on the day, including knocking down a line drive up the middle and throwing the runner out at first, and went 1-3 at the plate. Charlie Van Oehsen was 2-3 at the plate. Mathew Benevento caught a fly ball to snuff out a Blaze rally in the bottom of the sixth.
Lugnuts-Lansing Lugnuts 24, Chattanooga Lookouts 10
The New Canaan Alarm Lansing Lugnuts defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts in a 24-7 slugfest. The Lugnuts struck out just once on the day, and everybody on the team had at least one hit. Austin Platt was 4-4 with 3 rbi, Mathew Benevento was 4-4 wiht 3 rbi, and Charlie Van Oehsen was 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Brendan O'Leary made a great catch and tag at third base to kill a fifth inning rally and Jackson LaMorte, also 3-4 on the day, made a diving grab on a ground ball to second, and threw to make the out.
Bantam 7
Akron Aeros 17, Reno Aces 16
The Design Solution Reno Aces lost a nail bitter to the Camsan Electric Akron Aeros on Saturday 17-16. The bats roared again for the Aeros. With teammates in scoring position, Alex Ainsworth cranked a double with two RBI's in the second inning. Doubles were contagious for the Areos including Nick Deligtisch, Tyler Dusek, and Mac Busby. Jack Harrison defense at short stop along with Andrew Rechterman's great catch up the middle held the Aces to only three runs in the fourth inning. The Aces were led defensively by Riley Gardiner who was all over the field robbing Aeros of hits in every inning. Vaugh Slatoff played a smooth 2nd base while Justin Villeneuve shined at 1stand behind the plate. Mathew Wronski led the offensive with long drives while Gavin Bramwit and James Crehan’s clutch hitting kept the Aces in the game
Reno Aces 15, Durham Bulls 14
The Design Solution Reno Aces nipped the Davis and Associates Durham Bulls 15-14 on a perfect Saturday for baseball. Ben Loomis led the offensive attack for the Aces going 4 for 4 on the day. Noah Radecki blazed around the bases to score 4 runs while Joey Bucci went yard a couple of times picking up six rbis. Nicholas Garcia, Beau Ahrens and Jackson Easley led the stingy defense turning in play after play. The Bulls hit brigade was led by Matthew Balkun, Johnny Dunn and Marc DeGaetano who produced a combined 8 rbis while Christopher Bopp, Logan Johnson and Jack Conners flashed leather in the field.
