NEW CANAAN, Conn. New Canaans boys took third and the girls team won the 4 x 800 relay en route to a seventh place finish at the Class L track and field championships Tuesday at Middletown High School.
New Canaans lone win came in the 4 x 800 relay for girls, as the Rams ran 9:49.01. Also for the girls, Stephanie Benko finished second in the 3,200. The 4 x 400 relay took sixth.
In field events, Emily Lambdin was seventh in the pole vault, while Isabelle Herd (third), Rebecca Evensen (sixth) and Casey Pitts (seventh) picked up point in the discus.
For boys, Alexei Spinu was fourth in the 800, and Devaun Bovell was second in the 110 hurdles. The Rams took third in the 4 x 400 relay and second in the 4 x 800 relay.
In the field, Bovell finished sixth in the high jump, while Rami Hamdan was second in the shot put and third in the discus.
The top performers will advance to the State Open on Monday. Complete results are available online.
