NEW CANAAN, Conn. The New Canaan Senior 7 Red Team used a stifling defense and speedy offense to defeat the Wilton Senior 7 Blue Team, 21-6.
The defense set the tone by forcing a fumble on the first play of the game, and the offense took advantage of the short field to score on its first possession. The defense was led with crushing tackles by Robbie Jones and Andrew Bauersfeld and solid play up front by Peter OSullivan, Jack Rechtermann and Ryan Howe.
Troy Dunnamtook charge of the offense, which had key runs from Jake Grigsby and Ryan OConnell, who has a nose for the end zone. The blocking on the offensive line was outstanding, led by Christopher White, Patrick Song and Tiernan Brady. The special teams unit was solid with Dariush Amir-Aslani and Philip Brossy leading the way. Red closed out the game in the fourth quarter with some timely carries and tackles by Trevor Donnelly, Joseph Keller and Gregory Catalano. The win evened Reds record at 2-2 with a road game at Westport North next on the calendar.
