NEW CANAAN, Conn. The New Canaan 6 Black Rams dropped a tough football game, 19-6, to Wilton 6 Blue Saturday morning at Dunning Stadium. Both teams battled hard, and New Canaan took a 6-0 lead on a 63-yard run behind great blocking from Thomas Russo, Owen Shin, Max Thorsheim and Alex French.
The Ram defense held tough through the first quarter, but Wilton was able to score twice in the second and took a 13-6 lead into halftime.
The second half was a hard-fought battle highlighted by a Ram defense goal-line stand. Wilton had 2nd and goal from the Ram 1 yard line, and Nick Potter, Nicholas LaMorte, Tucker Seth, Owen Shin and Sean Knight all contributed to keep Wilton from putting it in.
The Ram offense was paced by David Kelly on the line and strong center play by Hamilton Stuart. But the Rams offense stalled in the fourth quarter and Wilton punched in a touchdown to complete the scoring.
