Hoyt, Bell Race Off With Titles In 5K In New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Kevin Hoyt of Newtown and Roland Bell of New York raced off with the top prizes Friday at the All Out For Autism 5k in New Canaan.

The race sponsored by New Balance New Canaan featured 369 finishers and 60 more in the children’s race.

Hoyt won in 16:05, followed by Alan Wells of New Canaan in 16:08. Patrick Galvin of Stamford finished third in 17:08.

Bell won  the women's division  in 18:56, followed by Darien’s Liz Herbert in 19:38 and Sharon Vos of Old Greenwich in 20:27.

The race supports special needs programs at the New Canaan YMCA. There was also a mascot race between the New Canaan Ram, Bruegger’s Bagelman, Joe’s Pizzaman and the New Balance Nubie Shoe. Race director Ron Rosenfeld said the race attracted more than 500 participants. There was also a walk and Zumba.
