Former New Canaan Softball Stars Are College Opponents

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Former New Canaan High School softball teammates Lindsey Schmid and Tori Rusch reunited in Florida with their college teams during a game on Monday.

Schmid and her Babson College teammates took on Rusch and Bowdoin in Claremont, Fla. Bowdoin pushed across a run in the ninth to earn a 4-3 victory. Both women are sophomores.

Rusch scored two runs for Bowdoin (8-4) and is hitting .278. She played right field against Babson. Schmid had a hit for Babson (4-4) and is hitting .333. She played right field against Bowdoin, and has also seen time at catcher for the first time since she was a high school sophomore.

Schmid started 11 games last season at Babson and hit .241 with a home run. Rusch played in 18 games and hit .216 last year for Bowdoin.
