NEW CANAAN, Conn. The New Canaan Cannons baseball team in the Fairfield County Men's Senior Baseball League stopped a five-game losing streak Sunday with a 5-1 victory over the Westport Cardinals.
The Cannons (5-9) got a strong pitching effort from pitcher Dave Dunkelberger, who got relief help from Pat Chieffalo.
Steve Benko sparkled at short, while second baseman Brian Valentine and catcher Bryan Vickers also made nice defensive plays. Valentine ripped four hits, while Dave Prutting slammed a two-run double.
The Cannons meet the Bridgeport Dodgers on Sunday.
