New Canaan's Caroline Fitzpatrick, representing Stamford's Arena Gymnastics, gutted her way to a second place all-around finish at the USAG Regionals in Andover to qualify for the USA Gymnastics Level 9 Eastern Nationals in Worcester, Mass., on May 7.
Fitzpatrick finished second in the all-around with a score of 35.90, placed third on bars (9.0), fourth in vault (9.05) and fourth on floor (8.9) and overcame an uncharacteristic slip on the beam to score 8.95, just .10 off the eventual winning score of 9.05. Fitzpatrick is the defending 2010 Eastern National balance beam champion.
