If his choice in ties means anything, Bryan Luizzi will do just fine with New Canaan residents.
Several people who met with Luizzi, the incoming principal at New Canaan High School, took notice of his neckwear: a red tie dominated by interlocking Ns and Cs and the familiar rams head logo used by New Canaan High School sports teams.
Its been wonderful, said Luizzi, who met with residents Monday in an informal meet-and-greet before the Board of Education meeting. Theres a whole sense of family here. Theyre very proud, and its very strong.
Luizzi met with people to familiarize himself with the school and the community that he will join July 1, when he takes over for the outgoing principal, Tony Pavia. I love what New Canaan is about, Luizzi said. Its a very successful high school, and Im finding out what theyre doing that's made them so successful.
Luizzi said its been interesting to meet with people before taking over at New Canaan High. Several members of the New Canaan Town Council, including Tucker Murphy, John Emert and Christine Hussey, made a point of stopping in and shaking Luizzis hand before Mondays special Town Council session.
Luizzi said its been strange to be in New Canaan while closing out his career at Brookfield High School, where he has served as principal for five years. It feels like I have a foot in both worlds, he said.
