New Canaan School Board Extends Superintendent's Contract

NEW CANAAN, CONN. -- New Canaan Superintendent Dr. Bryan Luizzi’s tenure has been extended by another year, according to a report by the New Canaan Advertiser.

The New Canaan Board of Education has unanimously voted to extend Dr. Bryan Luizzi's contract as schools chief for a year.

The Board of Education voted unanimously Monday to tack on another year to Luizzi’s current 2015-2018 contract, the New Canaan Advertiser reported.

Luizzi was principal at New Canaan High School before he replaced Dr. Mary Kolek as interim schools superintendent of schools in 2014, the New Canaan Advertiser story said.

According to the school district, Luizzi once worked as an English teacher at Newtown High School and was principal at Brookfield High School.

He has been an adjunct professor at Central Connecticut State College and the University of Connecticut.

Luizzi earned his doctorate at Teachers College at Columbia University.
