New Canaan Milestone Is Family Affair for Coach

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – As if New Canaan Rams Head Coach Lou Marinelli’s day couldn’t get much better, one little face made a homecoming victory even more special.

Marinelli celebrated Saturday’s 43-14 win over St. Joseph High of Trumbull with his players, fans and New Canaan High cheerleaders. But he was most happy to see his 7-week-old granddaughter Lucy, who made her first trip to Dunning Field. It was the same day he won his 250th game as Rams head coach.

“This is her first game,” the proud granddad said as other family members joined the celebration.

Marinelli said the day was special because he was surrounded by his team, his former players who now coach with him and his family. Marinelli said he was “blessed” to be where he is with New Canaan. “I got my whole family here. It doesn’t’ get any better,” he said.
