The event was held on March 14 at the University of New Haven.
At the all-day event, 48 New Canaan High students represented their school. The event concluded with the Rams Varsity “A” placing first in their division while the Varsity “B” team placed second in their division.
The TEAMS event pits high school teams from all over the nation in a competition based upon a series of engineering problems centered on a particular theme.
This year’s theme was “Engineering the Tools of Innovation.”
Teams comprised of eight students used their engineering skills to tackle issues that engineers are facing now and will face in the future.
Challenges focused on the energy efficiency of pumping systems, failure engineering and materials science, genomics, microscope technology, lenses and telescopes, semiconductor materials, six sigma manufacturing methods and colonizing mars.
Results of the national portion of the competition are not yet available, but the State of Connecticut results are complete.
