The New Canaan High School Food Bank Volunteers are again hosting their annual Turkey Drive. The club has collected turkeys and money from residents at the high school since Monday morning, asking people to drop off 17 to 20-pound turkeys that will be donated to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. The club, led by siblings Courtney and Jeffrey Cole, is now in its third year of existence. Their mom, Suzanne Cole, said the club worked to notify people of their campaign for about a week before that. “They’ve talked about really focusing and growing (the campaign) from local high school families to the community at large,” Suzanne Cole said. “We have found that people want to give, but they don’t know how to do so easily.” Last year’s turkey drive collected 55 turkeys and about $4,000, Suzanne Cole said. The club hopes to match or exceed the effort this year. The food drive collected about a dozen turkeys on Monday. Most of the turkeys will be collected on Wednesday morning from 6:45 to 10 a.m. at the high school entrance. Donations and checks can be made out to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. They can be dropped off at New Canaan High School on Wednesday morning or mailed to the NCHS Food Bank Volunteers Club, c/o Cole, 47 Stonehenge Drive, New Canaan, CT 06840.
