New Canaan Country School Students Care For Community

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Students, parents and staff from New Canaan Country School volunteered for a variety of good causes during their annual public service day in early March.

Here are some of the projects: 

  • Made bracelets to sell to raise money to ship 1,000 books to fill a new library at a school in Malawi.
  • Made lunches for Norwalk-based Family and Children’s Agency.
  • Sold baked goods to support The Ghana Children's Fund, founded by New Canaan resident Lisa Tuttle. 
  • Made gifts in woodshop for families moving into new homes built by Housatonic Habitat for Humanity. 
  • Made fleece blankets for Kids in Crisis.
  • Parents and children made cards and decorated tote bags filled with goodies for children at the pediatric centers at Norwalk Hospital and Westchester Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
  • Private First Class Elliott Folston of Norwalk attended and thanked volunteers for care packages assembled for Adopt A Platoon.
  •  Lower School science students made terrariums to be placed around campus.
