Education Group Gives New Canaan High Marks

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan Public Schools have received high marks for student performance from an education advocacy group.

The Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now released its statewide report cards on public schools Thursday and all five New Canaan school received top grades. The New Haven-based organization is working to reform education throughout the state. The report card measures student performance in math, reading, science and writing. 

The district as a whole received an A- and ranked No. 10 among all state districts. New Canaan High School earned a B+ and placed No. 7 among 190 high schools.

Saxe Middle School earned an A grade and was No. 4 among 298 middle schools.

West School received an A and ranked No. 1 among state elementary schools. East and South Schools received A grades also, but East was ranked 32nd among 571 elementary schools and South was 44th.
