The project to replace the turf, raised 100 percent through private donates, is expected to cost between $400,000 and $500,000. Egan is looking at several types of fill for the replacement, including black crumb rubber and an organic infill, said the NCAdvertiser.

In addition to the turf replacement, the board also heard from Gary Kass, director of human resources, who reported that elementary enrollment is up 25 students over last year and that enrollment rose by five students at Saxe Middle School and three students at the high school, added the NCAdvertiser.
