The theme this year, A Modern Mix: Art + Architecture, celebrates art in the modern home.

In-depth guided tours will be given of homes designed by Ulrich Franzen, Gates and Ford, Alan Goldberg, Landis Gores and John Johansen, among others.

Participants will be able to view John Johansen’s The Warner House. Johansen was the last living member of the Harvard Five, a renowned group of architects who settled in New Canaan just after World War II. This house was previously selected by the Architectural Record as one of the best contemporary homes in 1958.

“We are honored to have the chance to do our part by supporting the New Canaan Historical Society, which works to ensure that these spectacular residences stand as living legacies well into the future,” William Larkin, brokerage manager at William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty in New Canaan, said in a statement.

The annual Modern House Day Tour and Symposium will begin Saturday, Oct. 5, at 8:30 a.m.

The full-day event includes breakfast, the symposium, lunch, tour, cocktail reception and transportation. For more information go to nchistory.org.
