A Republican, O'Dea made the announcement via email late Thursday.
"It has been an honor that I have been blessed with for almost four years and one I hope to continue with for another two years," he said in the statement of serving in the House.
He said he made the decision after talking with his family and with his colleagues. O'Dea is an attorney with Diserio Martin O’Connor & Castiglioni in Stamford.
"As far as being your voice in Hartford over the last two terms, I have developed a reputation as a fiscally conservative problem-solver who works well with both sides of the aisle," O'Dea said. "As a member of the minority party, having that kind of reputation is imperative."
He serves as the ranking House member of the Transportation Committee.
"I truly enjoy representing the 125th District and would appreciate the opportunity to do so for another term," he said. "As always, the best ideas come from our constituents, not Hartford, so please reach out to me with any suggestions to improve our respective towns and Connecticut."
