NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A New Canaan home was burglarized last week when the owner left for about 45 minutes and jewelry, a television, and a camera were stolen.
The 71-year-old Weed Street resident told police he was missing more than $10,000 worth of jewelry, a 40-inch Samsung HDTV valued at $800 and a Nikon digital camera also valued at $800, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said. A full list of missing jewelry has not yet been given to investigators, she said.
The incident which was reported the evening of July 26, happened sometime between 3 and 3:45 p.m. when the resident was not there, the sergeant said.
There was no sign of forced entry, but cabinets had been opened and emptied in the home, Ogrinc said adding that there it was obvious someone was inside the home. The man did admit to leaving the front door unlocked.
