Statement: New Canaan Realtor Plans To Fight Charges

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Ruth LeBlanc-Jones, a New Canaan Realtor who was charged in what police described as a real estate larceny scheme, plans on contending her arrest, said a statement released by her spokesman.

Ruth Jones, of New Canaan, was charged with larceny, forgery, and burglary for her suspected involvement in a scheme to sell a home she did not have the listing for.

“Ruth LeBlanc-Jones is not guilty, and we will prove so in court with evidence. Her company was hired by [the estate owner] to clean, secure an ownership partner for needed property improvements, supervise these improvements and then help sell [the estate owner’s] deceased father's home. As with all real estate brokers, Ruth LeBlanc-Jones was given keys to the home early in the process to do so. No larceny or burglary ever occurred and saying so is a disgrace and a lie,” a statement from Mike Paul, president of MGP & Associates PR, said on Jones’ behalf.

The statement goes on to say that the estate owner may have used her job with NBC News to “gain leverage and special attention with the New Canaan police department and the prosecutor’s office. If that is so, it would not only be unethical, but maybe illegal in itself.  We are asking top authorities to check into these rumors to see if they are true and if so bring all to a stop immediately.”
