updated: NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A number of people were “very, very badly injured” in a four-car crash early Thursday evening on Silvermine Road near Clapboard Road, the New Canaan Advertiser reported.
Four cars were involved in the accident, with at least one car rolling over into the woods, police told the Advertiser. Some occupants were trapped in their cars, and one person had been ejected from a vehicle, the Advertiser reported.
Several of the occupants were injured and some sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries, and were transported to Norwalk Hospital, police told the Advertiser.
The accident happened at about 5:30 p.m., Police Chief Leon Krolikowski told the Advertiser. Officials told the Advertiser that the accident there may have been a fatality in the crash.
Silvermine Road, also known as state Route 106, was closed in the area for some time after the crash.
