NEW CANAAN, Conn. Two cars were vandalized with a rock near Waveny Park during the New Canaan Family Fourth celebration, police said.
Two women, who attended the town's Independence Day party, returned to their cars on Gerdes Road after 10 p.m. and found they had been vandalized.
The drivers side window was broke on a 2001 Acura MDX, and the front bumper of a 2012 Nissan Rogue sustained damage to its front fender, police said. Police found a rock near the vehicles and were investigating.

A mailbox was reported stolen from a home last Thursday on Proprietors Crossing, police said. A resident told police he walked to his front yard at about 2:28 a.m. and saw a dark-colored Honda traveling in reverse with a group of people and noticed that the mailbox in front of his home had been taken. The mailbox was worth about $400, police said.
A resident of Jelliff Mill Road told police he heard a car with a loud exhaust driving on a long private driveway and then heard glass breaking at about 11:48 p.m. last Thursday. The man discovered broken beer bottles smashed in a driveway, police said. No injuries were reported, and police were investigating.
