James Nakarin Lucchesi, 20, of 218 E. Rocks Road, was arrested at about 3 a.m. after an officer observed his car crossing the double yellow line and entering into the northbound lane of New Norwalk Road while he was driving south, New Canaan police said.

Lucchesi told the officer he was texting while behind the wheel, which earned him a ticket for using a cellphone while driving. His troubles didn't end there, as he was charged with operating under the influence and possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle, police said.

The odor of alcohol was detected, police said, and he later recorded a blood alcohol reading of .145 — nearly double the legal limit. An officer also found a Winchester fixed0blade knife with a blade length of 4 7/8 inches in his vehicle, police said.

He was released on $500 bond and is scheduled to make a court appearance on April 26.
