NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The town of New Canaan has chosen not to seek reimbursement of its police costs associated with responding to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, according to ctpost.com.
The town was eligible to receive a portion of a $2.5 million federal grant for all Connecticut law enforcement agencies involved in responding to the Newtown shooting. Instead, New Canaan will reallocate the $7,623 to training personnel in emergency response to violent offenders, ctpost.com said.
A total of 20 first-graders and six educators were killed in the massacre.
