New Canaan Police Seek Man Who Tried To Use Fake Bills

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Phony $100 bills were used by a man attempting to buy gift cards from a New Canaan pharmacy, police said, and officers are trying to find the suspect.

Police said a man entered the Walgreens store at about 9:08 p.m., Jan. 8, and tried to purchase five cards by using five counterfeit $100 bills. Police said the store’s manager knew that the currency was phony and a machine at the store used to process the money indicated they were not real bills. Nothing was taken from the store, police said, and the man left the store and left the area in a white 4-door Kia sedan with New Jersey license plates.

The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s,  5 feet, 8 inches tall with short hair and was last seen wearing a red vest.
