The addition of new officers could potentially reduce overtime pay, according to the report. The town’s Board of Finance restored a second officer position in March after it had been cut, returning to a proposed total of 47 police officers, according to the report. The Board of Selectmen previously recommended hiring one new officer.
One of the proposed new positions would replace an existing officer to be the school resource officer for Saxe Middle School, according to the report.
