New Canaan Police received complaints on Aug. 2 and Aug. 22 from two patients regarding identity theft and larceny at the treatment facility. Police identified 29-year-old Drew Eccleston of Bridgeport as a suspect in the identity thefts, according to police.
It was determined that Eccleston was employed at the facility during both of the incidents, and that the victims had been patients at the facility during the time of the thefts, police said. Investigators discovered that Eccleston had used the stolen funds to pay bills with the Southern Connecticut Gas for a residence in Bridgeport, police said.
A warrant was issued for Eccleston's arrest, and he turned himself in to police on Friday, Sept. 8. He was charged with second-degree identity theft, fourth-degree larceny and fifth-degree larceny. He was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 22.
