New Canaan Man, 56, Charged With Assault, Strangulation

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A 56-year-old local man knocked a person to the ground, then strangled and punched the victim in the head, New Canaan police said.

The incident was reported at 2:30 p.m. Thursday but occurred earlier in the day at a local home, police said.

Officers arrested Andrew O'Malley at his home on Deacons Way and charged him with third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation, police said.

O'Malley was freed on $10,000 bond and was due to appear in court on Friday.
