Email Hacker Attempts To Steal $22K From New Canaan Woman

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan police are investigating a complaint from a 58-year-old town woman who said a hacker attempted to steal more than $22,000 from her bank account, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The scammer reportedly sent an email from the victim's account to her financial adviser in an attempt to withdraw $22,190 from an account. The adviser became suspicious and contacted the victim, who denied writing the email, the Advocate reported.

Police are still investigating the incident.
