Police said a 58-year-old Mariomi Road resident reported the downspouts missing Tuesday. Police said the man noticed a week earlier that a piece of a downspout was on the ground in front of his home’s garage. After he began to repair it, police said the resident noticed other downspout sections were missing as well. In all, 10 downspouts, valued at $5,000 apiece, were reported stolen, police said.
The theft of copper downspouts has happened before. Police said someone removed seven, 10-foot downspouts and a copper gutter from a Thayer Drive residence sometime last June. Those downspouts were valued at $805 and the gutter was valued at $105.
About $1,400 in Copper downspouts were reportedly stolen from a Cedar Lane home being constructed last April.
