NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Robert J. Moylan, a New Canaan resident for more than 20 years, died Nov. 27 at his home with his wife by his side. He was 82.
Born Jan. 28, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Cornelius and Anna Miniter Moylan. He graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola, N.Y., and Holy Cross College in Worcester.
He served in the Navy and then graduated from New York Law School in 1957. Moylan worked for Dewey Ballantine and American Can Company as director of real estate. He was previously a resident of Greenwich and Pleasantville, N.Y.
In New Canaan, he was a past president of the Senior Men’s Club, a former member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and a Salant Round Table discussion leader. He was a member of the Woodway Gun Club, Campfire Club of America and Atlantic lndians.
Moylan is survived by his wife, Barbara Bruggeman Moylan; four sons, Christopher Moylan, of Sunnyvale, Calif., Robert J. Moylan, of Sydney, Australia, David Moylan, of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Bradley Silcox, of Vietnam; two daughters, Margaret Marsden, of Hickory, N.C., and Amy Silcox, of Perrysburg, Ohio; a sister, Ann O'Brien, of Yonkers; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, John Moylan.
Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Interment will be private.
