NEW CANAAN, Conn. - Peter Douglas Meyer of New Canaan died Feb. 21. He was 76.
Meyer was born June 15, 1935, in Manhattan to Edna P. Blair and Maxmillian “Mack” Meyer. After graduating from Hofstra University in 1956, Meyer served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and then served as a member of the Army Reserves.
Meyers joined IBM in 1958, where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 1993. He moved to New Canaan in 1973.
He served on the board of the New Canaan Senior Center and as a deacon for the Congregational Church of New Canaan. He was also an active member of the Parent-Faculty Association at New Canaan High School, serving as president in 1987.
Meyer is survived by his wife, Wendy; son, Doug (Stafford) Meyer of Bronxville, N.Y., his daughter, Jen (Pat) Ryan of Chicago; six grandchildren and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Dennis Meyer.
A private memorial service for family will be held at the Congregational Church of New Canaan.
