Wine Vendor Joins New Canaan Farmers' Market

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Are you interested in picking up a bottle of chardonnay when you get fruit and vegetables at the New Canaan Farmers' Market?

You’ll soon have that opportunity.

The Farmers' Market will host Dalice Elizabeth Winery of Preston as one of its vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays now that the New Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission signed off on the request. The winery will still need state approval, Market Master Lexi Gazy said. But Dalice Elizabeth should be setting up shop by July. The winery approached Gazy to take part.

“Wine is the newer revitalized commodity in Connecticut,” Gazy said. “It’s only natural to have something that’s complementary to everything else we have.” No samples will be available.

“We’ll be one of the few markets in the state that has a winery,” Gazy said. “It will be an honor to have them take part in our market.” Dalice Elizabeth also offers wine vinaigrettes, wine jellies and jams.

The 2012 edition of the New Canaan Farmers' Market debuted May 12 and will run through November.
