Victim Identified in Fatal Crash in New Canaan

Updated, 12:30 p.m.: NEW CANAAN, Conn. — The name of the passenger killed in Thursday night's car accident has been released. Police say James Jackson Savage, 74, of Seattle, died at the scene after the Maserati Quattroporte he was riding in crashed on Ponus Ridge Road.

Police found Jackson trapped in the car, which was the only vehicle involved in the crash. 

The owner of car, Michael Savage, 37, of New Canaan, was located about eight hours after the crash Friday morning, police say. He was reportedly driving the car when the crash occurred and fled the scene on foot, according to police.

Original story: NEW CANAAN, Conn. — The owner of a car involved in a fatal crash Thursday night has been found, New Canaan police say. 

Michael Savage, 37, was located at about 6:45 a.m. Friday. A passenger in Savage's car was killed in an accident on Ponus Ridge Road near Lakewind Road at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday, police say. 

Police did not release the name of passenger. They say they will provide more details as the investigation progresses. 

The Stamford Advocate reports Savage was found at Stamford Hospital, where he had gone to seek treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.
