NEW CANAAN, Conn. Two men accused of participating in a group attack that seriously injured a 16-year-old boy were arrested by New Canaan Police.
Trevor Harvey, 21, of 37 St. John Place, and Jeremy L. Finnegan , 22, of 186 Lakeview Ave., were charged on Monday with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault after turning themselves in to police on warrants. Finnegan was also charged with second-degree making a false statement.
Police made the arrests after investigating an incident that happened at about 10:24 p.m. on April 29 in the parking lot of the Mobil gas station Police said the 16-year-old boy was walking through the lot with a friend when a group of young men in the neighboring parking lot yelled at the 16-year-old to incite a fight. Moments later, several men ran toward the 16-year-old, grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. Police said the victim was held down while others kicked and stomped the victims right knee, causing a dislocation. Police said the victims friend, also 19, tried to call 911, but his phone was taken from him. A witness contacted police about the incident. The victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.
Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said it was unclear why the boy was targeted, but said the men responsible may have been intoxicated.
After investigation, three warrants were obtained. A third arrest is pending, police said.
Finnegan was ordered held on $50,000 bond and was arraigned Tuesday in Norwalk Superior Court. Harvey was released after posting a $50,000 bond and will appear in Norwalk Court on July 28.
