Trick Or Treat: New Canaan Sets Saturday For Halloween

The following is a message from Mike Handler, New Canaan's Emergency Management Director:

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – As promised, the town has rescheduled Halloween for Saturday. We apologize for the short notice, but we do not want to miss the nice weather. I trust everyone will help make trick-or-treating special for our children.

While town-wide restoration is nearly complete, we understand that there are a few remaining issues that need attention. While power restoration is complete, issues still remain with cable and communication lines.  In some cases, these lines are low-hanging or down in the roadways. If you have a problem with phone, Internet or Cablevision, you will need to call your provider directly. The number for Cablevision is (203) 847-6666. You should inquire as to whether or not you are entitled to a credit for lost services.

For instructions on brush removal, please refer to the “Brush Policy,” which can be found on the town website under the red “Hurricane Sandy” banner.

The state of emergency has been lifted and the emergency operations center is now closed. Any new power issues should be reported to Connecticut Light and Power at (800) 286-2000. The call center is no longer staffed and the OEM Facebook page will be deactivated until further notice.

The Office of Emergency Management would like to thank everyone for their patience and grace in dealing with yet another difficult extended period without power. Thank you and be safe.
