Town Tree Warden Steps Down

First Selectman Jeb Walker announced Wednesday that John Howe has resigned as the town's tree warden.

Walker said Howe resigned for personal reasons. "The town appreciates all the hard work and hours that Mr. Howe has put in," Walker said. "He has always been a professional and put the safety needs of the town residents first in his day-to-day decisions."

Walker added later that Howe had his hands full with other work. "John's plate has been full for a while," he said, noting that Howe will stay on as the parks director. Howe could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

The Board of Selectmen is expected to appoint a new tree warden at its Nov. 2 meeting.
