Power Coming Back to New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Good Afternoon, this is Mike Handler with a noon update from the Emergency Operations Center. Power has been restored to 60 percent of town. Connecticut Light & Power is now estimating that complete restoration will be achieved by Tuesday at 11 p.m.

CL&P has informed us that we have seven line crews with two additional crews arriving today. These crews are in addition to New Canaan's resources working in multiple locations that have sustained severe damage. We have demanded that additional crews arrive throughout the day.

Today's crews are focusing on the following areas: Oenoke Ridge Road, Parade Hill, Weed Street, Richmond Hill and Valley Road. These areas are the most concentrated with homes and will restore electricity to the most residents. The data on CL&P's website is not updated in real-time.

We continue to manage debris removal and property damage assessment. Send all storm-related photos to: Irene.photos@newcanaan.info.

Regarding septic systems: If you have an electrical waste pump and are without power, be alert for possible septic back-up. For additional information regarding septic systems, call (203) 594-3019. Complimentary lunch will be served at the high school today from noon to 4 p.m. Dinner will again be served at Mead Park from 5 p.m. to 9 pm. We will provide additional updates later today.
