NEW CANAAN, Conn. An unusual order for food and cash from a New Canaan sandwich shop did not go far, according to New Canaan police.
Police said someone called Club Sandwich on Cherry Street at about 2:15 p.m. and asked for an order of 150 chicken sandwiches. The person who called the shop asked to place the order on a credit card plus $1,000. The person picking up the order could get $1,000 back, similar to a debit card cash back transaction. Police said the stores owner did not process the order. Police said the MasterCard credit card number the owner received came back invalid and the phone number provided was disconnected.
