Police Awards Tops New Canaan News This Week

NEW CANAAN, Conn. —New Canaan Police honoring several officers led the news in town this week. Here is a look at what else took place this week.

  • A suspected shoplifter was stopped in Walgreens and arrested by police after she had returned the items and apologized to a store employee. 
  • On Wednesday The Daily Voice told you that New Canaan Police Department and other town departments and organizations partaking in an active shooter drill on Aug. 8 at Saxe Middle School. The public is asked not to attend. 
  • While it did not touch New Canaan directly, a 12-year-old boy from Weston died after crashing his bike in Wilton on Wednesday.
  • New Canaan High Grads Nicola Scandiffio and Abigail Schwarz will be filming their movie "Those Who Wander," after running a successful fundraising campaign on KickStarter. 
  • For the first time in more than 20 years the New Canaan Police Department gave out its Police Cross to three officers, and three also received the Medical Service Award.
