The embattled committee working on the town's master plan on Monday discussed ways to best promote next month's public hearing. "We just want to make sure we reach as many people in the community as we possibly can," committee Chairwoman Christine Wagner said. "It's so people know what we're doing."
Members of the Long Range Planning Committee talked about publicizing the public hearing on the master plan for downtown and receiving public comments. The committee reviewed the look of a postcard to send to all town residences before the Nov. 22 session, which will be held in the Town Hall auditorium.
The committee also discussed having the hearing shown on Channel 79 for residents who can't attend in person as well as putting up posters and distributing meeting information via email to community organizations.
The committee and its contracted adviser, Perkins Eastman Associates, will also work to create a website on the long-range plan, intended to examine the future of Town Hall, the New Canaan Library and the New Canaan Fire Department, among others.
This was the first meeting for new member Arnold Karp, who was appointed two weeks ago. The group is still short one person.
The committee rescheduled several of its meetings so more people can attend. The Nov. 1 meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall. The Nov. 8 meeting was moved to 7 p.m. on Nov. 10, also at Town Hall. The committee usually meets at 1 p.m. Mondays at the Lapham Community Center in Waveny Park.
