New Canaan Teen Driver Faces Adult Charges

NORWALK, Conn. – The 16-year-old New Canaan driver accused in the March death of a Norwalk jogger will return to Norwalk Superior Court on June 22.

The girl, who is facing criminal charges as an adult, was to appear in court on Thursday morning, but the matter was rescheduled, according to the Norwalk Court Clerk’s Office.

Norwalk police have charged the New Canaan resident with negligent homicide by motor vehicle, failure to drive in an established lane and distracted driving. Norwalk police said the girl was driving a 2001 Toyota 4Runner on March 24 when she struck 44-year-old runner Kenneth Dorsey at about 9:31 a.m. in the area of 229 New Canaan Ave. A police affidavit says the girl was using her iPhone while driving at the time of the incident.
