New Canaan Resident Walks In Memory Of His Mother

The Lustgarten Foundation is the nation’s largest private foundation dedicated to funding pancreatic cancer research. And 100 percent of every dollar that Morgan and his fellow walkers raise will go directly to pancreatic cancer research.

Morgan and his family felt lost and confused when their active and healthy mother Ilene was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2010. Through friends they learned about The Lustgarten Foundation, which provided them with information, support and comfort. After Ilene sadly passed away from the disease that September, Morgan and his family felt that to work through their grief, as well as fulfill one of their mother's goals – to save other families from the same fate – they would get involved in the Foundation's Westchester Walk. 

In 2011, they formed Team "Ilene" with more than 60 members strong, and have been walking every year since, determined to celebrate Ilene's life and make a difference in the fight against this disease.

Morgan believes that participating in the walk is a moving way to honor his mother. And for him, it is also fulfilling to know that 100 percent of all money he raises goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.

“Scott will unite with many dedicated individuals who have joined the fight against this deadly disease in memory of loved ones they have lost and in support of pancreatic cancer survivors,” said Kerri Kaplan, executive director and chief operating officer, The Lustgarten Foundation.“The Lustgarten Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for research because with more research, we will find a cure.”

The Lustgarten Foundation’s Westchester Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk at Rye Playland Park will begin at 9:30 a.m., with registration starting at 8:00 a.m. For more information about the walk or to register, visit www.curePC.org.
