New Canaan Police Charge Man With Endangering Kids

NEW CANAAN, Conn. - A Bridgeport man accused of drunkendriving with three children in his vehicle was arrested by New Canaan police.

Willie J. Langley Jr., 34, of Barnum Avenue, was charged May 7 with driving under the influence and three counts of risk of injury to a minor, a felony.

Police said Langley was pulled over at about 4:28 p.m. after an officer noticed several things on his rearview mirror. Police said as the officer spoke with Langley, he noticed the scent of alcohol on his breath. Three children between the ages of 8 and 13 in the vehicle, police said. Police said they found an unopened bottle of rum and an empty bottle of gin in the car. Langley was arrested after allegedly failing a field sobriety test.

Langley was released on $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Thursday in Norwalk Superior Court.

Donna J. Mills, 51, of Millport Avenue, New Canaan, was charged with DUI on Saturday. Police said a Wilton woman called police at about 5:53 p.m. after allegedly seeing Mills and a male passenger get out of a car and stumble after parking in the Walgreens parking lot off Pine Street. Police said the caller was concerned the driver might be a danger. Police stopped Mills and the passenger when they came out of the pharmacy. Police said Mills showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Mills was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear May 24 in Norwalk Superior Court.

Police are investigating a fraud incident reported by a South Avenue resident. Police said the man was contacted last Friday by a collection agency stating he owed nearly $192 on an AT&T phone bill that was closed March 16. Police said the billing address was in West Palm Beach, Fla., but the man has never been to West Palm Beach and has no family there.

Police are looking into how a Scofield Lane woman’s personal information was used to open a Paypal account. Police said the woman called police Saturday to report she received a statement a day earlier from Paypal saying she owed $350 for items purchased. The woman told police she never opened any account and did not make any purchases. Police said the account was made with the woman’s Social Security number but spelled her name incorrectly. The woman is not being held responsible for the charges, police said.
