The night will include swimming in the pond, field games, a limbo contest, music, and a campfire for making s’mores. The Apple Cart will be providing burgers and hot dogs for dinner.
“The event should be a great opportunity for families who are in town in August to come together for an evening of summer fun together,” Davie Cedela, youth and family director at the YMCA, said in a news release from the organization.
“The Bank of New Canaan has always been a strong supporter of the Y and other organizations in town that make New Canaan such a special place to live and work,” Heidi DeWyngaert, president of the bank, which is sponsoring the event, said in the release.
The luau was planned as part of the YMCA’s goals of youth development and family time, as well as providing children with most of the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets, the release said. The assets are researched based qualities that help children develop into adults that are caring, responsible, and productive, the release said.
All families are invited to attend the luau, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5 per family and includes dinner. Kiwanis Park is on New Norwalk Road.
