NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Kate Regan will return to Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 4 to continue facing charges in the hit-and-run death of an elderly man last year.
Pretrial action was expected to continue on Tuesday, but the case was ordered to proceed in another two months by Judge Bruce Hudock.
Regan is charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility resulting in physical injury or death. New Canaan Police said Regans SUV hit 82-year-old Krishna S. Jayaraman last Aug. 18 as as he stood at the mailbox outside his Oenoke Ridge Road home. Jayaraman died afterward at Norwalk Hospital from multiple traumatic blunt injuries.
Regan was arrested Nov. 3 following a nearly three-month investigation by town police and the State Police Major Crime Unit. She has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Jayaramans family has filed a civil suit against Regan and her husband Michael in Superior Court in Stamford.
