New Canaan Boy Dining With First Lady Tops Week's News

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — John Breitfeld getting to eat lunch with Michelle Obama in Washington D.C., led the news this week in New Canaan. Breitfeld, 9, was chosen to represent Connecticut at the 2013 Kids State Dinner for his Quinoa Risotto with Shrimp and Kale recipe. Part of the dinner included meeting First Lady Michelle Obama.

On Thursday Gov. Dannel Malloy announced nearly $5 million in grants were handed out from the state, $215,000 will be going to New Canaan for several downtown upgrades.
